Show I CATHEDRAL MOTES. Rt. Rev. L. Scanlan left last Wednesday Wednes-day for Omaha, to be present at the laying of the corner-stone of the new cathedral. The ceremony will take place on Sunday next. Rev. Orison J. McMulIen, a member of the Paulist community, spent Sunday Sun-day in Salt Lake. He officiated at the last mass, and preached an eloquent sermon. He left on Tuesday for San Francisco. Mrs. James O'Connor and Mrs. H. Kaufmann are the ladies appointed to attend to the altars this week. High mass will be resumed next Sunday. J. W. Curtis will sing the offertory solo at 11 o'clock next Sunday. The Knights of Columbus wiU attend the 9 o'clock mass in a body next Sun- iday. Rev. Father Dryer of Nampa, Ida., spent a few days here during the past week. Sunday school Is held every Sunday at 9-30. The members of the St. Cecilia chorus cho-rus will have rehearsal Sunday at 9:30. The members of the Junior choir will have rehearsal Saturday at 3:30. The members of the 11 o'clock choir will have rehearsal Friday night at 6 o'clock. ( Rev. Father Klely baptized Ihe infant in-fant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward McGurrin last Sunday. The little one was named Mary Katherine, and the sponsors were Miss Mary Noble and .Moy .Byrne. The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Laramie was baptized last Sunday. The ladies of the Altar society held a "cake sale" last Saturday, which, according ac-cording to Mrs. C. C. Slade, the energetic ener-getic young president, was not as successful suc-cessful as former sales. The reason was that not enough cakes were donated, do-nated, and it is hoped that the next sale will be better in every way. The Knights of Columbus will have requiem mass shortly for the deceased members of the lodge. The members of St. Mary's Alumnae, association will meet next Sunday at t 3 o'clock at St. Mary's academy. Rosary devotion are held every night at 7:30. On Wednesday and Friday evenings Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament Sa-crament is given. An effort will be made at once to Increase In-crease the membership of the Junior choir to 100 voices. Rehearsal is held every Saturday at 3:30, and the parents are requested to send their children, both girls and boys. The members of the St. Mary's Aluni-nca Aluni-nca association will hold a meeting on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at St. Mary's academy, to arrange for the annual meeting and'banquet, Nov. 4. An attendance of all the members Is particularly requested. The little folks of the Junoir ?hoir are planning to give a little Christmas cantata during the holiday time. The -women of the Altar soviety of the Cathedral will have a mincemeat and fruit cake sale about Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing time. They will have the annual I bazaar the first wek in December. |
