Show FIFTEEN MILLIONS FOR NEW CATHOLIC CATHEDRALS A Cathedral Building Era in America. Tlte Catholic church in this country is passing through a cathedral building build-ing era. In twenty dioceses of the country cathedral churches have ju&r been completed, are under construc- 1 tion or are projected. Xo less than .FeOf'O.OOO will be soent on these edi- 1 flees. ' A cathedral building wave appear; to be running throughout the country. The- church has just passed thiough its pioneer days. It has struggled to a position po-sition of financial affluence1. The cathedrals ca-thedrals built in the '50s arid 'HOs are too small and too meager for the growing dioceses. Many of these new cathedrals will be magnificent edifices, costing upon into the millions. Nor is the cathedral building confined-to tiny section of the countrv. In the east. Brooklyn is to have a ."..000.000 cathedral. In the south, a magnificent cathedral has just been dedicated at Richmond. Va. In the middle west, Cincinnati. C'evelan.d. Indianapolis. St. Louis, St. Paul. Minneapolis, Min-neapolis, are at work on the cathedral building proposition. -Denver is build-, ing a cathedral. Los Angeles has had plans drawn lor one. In his sermon at the recent laying of the corner stone for a new cathedral at Great Falls. Mont.. Bishop O'Doa of Seattle called attention to the fact that the. construction of a cathedral church i? under way in each, of the five dioceses const ituling the province of Oregon. All of the above buildings except that at Cincinnati, have been recently described in different issues of this journal.
