Show Handsome Men Make Poor Husbands. The man a girl should choose for her husband is not the acknowledged wit and favorite of his chums. It is not the handsomest, wealthiest or most fascinating fas-cinating man who makes the best husband. hus-band. A girl, if wise in selecting her lover, should, instead of being attracted by outside show, rather look to the inner perfections and quqalities of the man who is to be her partner for life. The plainer, more homely, and often less talented man is. as a rule, less selfish self-ish than his handsomer and more bril liant brother; he is not so vain, so conscious con-scious of his attractions and charms, more diffident and reserved, and, being fully alive to his own shortcomings, more likely to lavish a wealth of affection affec-tion and love upon his wife. The society man. the man who is courted, feted, made much of by his friends, is often too addicted to company, com-pany, the delights of each and all sundry sun-dry amusements, to make a woman happy; such a man is inordinately vain, loo wrapped up in himself, too full of his own importance. The plainer man who is not so highly gifted, possesses less personal attractions, who, instead of manly beauty and fascinating mannerswhich, man-nerswhich, after all, like beauty, are but skin deep rejoices in the possession posses-sion of a good and generous heart, a noble no-ble disposition, a tender, thoughtful way. and a gentle care for all women, Is the man most likely to become an ideal husband. . |
