Show MINERS TAKE THE LEAD. Decide to Appeal to the Peace Commission. Com-mission. Indianapolis, Ind., Jan. 25. Probably the first formal appeal to the peace commission recently appointed at New-York New-York under the auspices cf the National Nation-al Civic Federation for the settlement of all labor disputes, of which Senator Hanna is chairman, and on which prominent capitalists, labor leaders and prominent citizens have consented to serve, will be made by the anthracite anthra-cite miners, who will ask the commission commis-sion to assist them in arranging a conference with the operators of the district in regard to the scale for the coming year. This plan was adopted, it is understood, at the conference of I the anthracite miners Saturday. President John Mitchell of the Mine Workers' union is a member of the peace commission on behalf of the wage earners, and he, it is understood, suggested the plan of appealing to the commission. The commission, composed com-posed of President Mitchell and Duffy and Fahey of the anthracite field, appointed ap-pointed by the anthracite miners, will draw up a resolution in accordance with the plan. |
