Show A Splendid Work. In Chicago a splendid work is being done among a class of women who have been generally neglected by their sex, because of the difficulty of reaching them, as well as owing to the traditional tradi-tional feeling of aloofness from contact with depravity which is natural to and has been universal among good women. That it requires great strength of character char-acter and, from the Catholic viewpoint, special grace of God, to become accustomed accus-tomed to vice and retain high ideals, none will doubt; to condemn the sin while pitying and trying to help the sinner requires unusual fortitude. About one year ogo, a society was formed called the Prisoner's Friend society, so-ciety, under the leadership of Miss Mary Mosset. for the purpose of aiding: young women to start anew after a false step had been made; and still in the incipient incipi-ent stage is a home for such friendless girls, under Catholic auspices, although backed by two prominent non-sectarian woman's clubs. Miss Mosset and Mis Ryan will live in the home and the poor fflrl who come out of prison and feels that for her the world has no pity, or any other unfortunate who wishes to earn an honest livelihood and efface an evil past, will find protection and safety within his home.
