C, to be countv court judge of and for the counties coun-ties of Armagh and Louth, in the place of Judge Kisbey, resigned. Mr. Green j is the son of the late Mr. James Sulli van Green of Airhill. County Cork. He i has enjoyed an extensive practice in many important, cases, including the 1 O'Hanlon and Logue case. In which the ' validity of bequest for masses was fi nally determined. He has been for sev- eral rears counsel for the local govern- i inent board and the commissioners of . ; i j charitable doations and bequests, and ' 1 repeatedlv appeared for the Dublin countv council before parliamentary 1 committees and in the Irish courts. He I is a brother of Mr. Max Green, private I secretary to the lord lieutenant, and a i Catholic. j Clare. Amid every manifestation of sorrow, the interment took place of the Rev. I Laurence J. Browne, P. P.. Doonbeg, 1 whose death at the advanced age of 80 I vears took place recently. The deceased ! "was one of the oldest and best known I clergymen in Clare. He was an ardent and devoted followerer of the principles of Father Mathew. Most Rev. Dr. Fog-arty. Fog-arty. D. D., bishop of the diocese of Killaloe. and Most Rev. Dr. O'Dwyer, D. D.. bishop of Limerick, presided at the funeral service. The bishop of Killaloe pronounced the absolution. The remains were interred in the vault in front of the high altar. Rev. Thomas Yaughan. P. P.. Ogonnelloe, has been transferred to the parish of Doonberg in succession to the late Father Browne, I and Rev. D. O'Meara. Miltown Malbay, lias been made P. P. of Ogonnelloe. Father O'Meara's well deserved promo- i tion has given much pleasure to his many friends in Clare. Kilkenny. Already active preparations are being made for the celebration of the twenty-fifth twenty-fifth anniversary of the consecration of ! the Most Rev. Dr. Brownrigg as bishop j .f the diocese of Ossory. The celebra- I lions will take place in Kilkenny on Dec. 14. : The Most Rev. Dr. Browning was consecrated bishop of Ossory on Dec. 34, 18S4, having previously been superior of the house of missions, Enniscorthy. one of his earliest episcopal cares was the completion of the cathedral of St. 5 Mary's, which cost a sum of $100,000, ; 1 wnd he also devoted himself to carry- Jng uotextensive improvements in St. j ICieran's college. During his episcopate . he has promoted the establishment of i i numerous conventual institutions J throughout the diocese. I Right Rev. Patrick McKenna, D. D., j was consecrated bishop of Clogher.
