Show GRAND OPERA FESTIVAL. Lohengrin, Carmen, Tannhaeuser and La Boheme to be Given Elaborate Productions at the Salt Lake Theatre. The-atre. Society and music lovers in Salt Lake and surrounding cities who have been loooking forwrard to the coming first visit of the celebrated Savage English grand opera company and orchestra will be pleased to learn that four of the most popular operas In the. entire repertoire of this superb company of English-singing artists are to be given new and elaborate scenic productions at the Salt Lake theatre, beginning Monday, March 27, with a special matinee mati-nee on Wednesday. This will be the only opportunity afforded music lovers lov-ers in Utah to hear the celebrated songbirds .with this famous organization, organiza-tion, together, with the all-Ameriean chorus of seventy youthful, well-schooled well-schooled voices, full grand opera orchestra or-chestra of forty picked musicians under un-der two conductors, and elaborate scenic investiture for each of the operas op-eras in its repertoire. The company numbers over 150 people; and requires a special train of. fourteen cars for its transportation. To present four of the famous masterpieceB by the worlds greatest composers will tax the stage facilities of the Salt Lake theatre. The big company is now concluding a three weeks' engagement in San Francisco, one of the most successful in its nine years' history, and society and music lovers are in accord in proclaiming this -to be the greatest company of English-singing artists ever formed to present the works of the master- composers in a language which all can understand. This will be the first season of grand opera in Salt Lake since the days of Emma Juch, and the opening performance perform-ance on Monday night, March 27, will be a rare society as well as musical event. It will serve to introduce Mr. Savage's superb company in Wagner's most sublime tone drama, "Lohengrin," that is to be given in its entirety, including the famous "Wedding March," beautiful song numbers and all its sonorous harmonies, exactly as given at the Metropolitan opera house in New York. This will be the first performance of this world-famed masterpiece mas-terpiece in Salt "Lake. The overture to this master work will start at 8 o'clock sharp. On Tuesday evening, March 28, Bizet's Bi-zet's "Carmen" will be given, with all its brilliant scenes and passion-swept melodies, introducing the great American Amer-ican contralto, Marlon Ivell, as the Spanish gypsy. Wagner's "Tannhauser" will be the bill at the Wednesday matinee, Wagnerian Wag-nerian conductor Schneck starting trie immortal overture at 2 o'clock sharp. This masterpiece, with its stirring harmonies, har-monies, "Pilgrims' Chorus," and all, will be given with the same elaborateness elaborate-ness of detail that marks all of Mr. Savage's productions. For the farewell performance, Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, Puccini's beautiful "La Boheme," the finest masterpiece of all modern Italian composers, will be the bill. This delightful opera is described de-scribed as a, tone picture of life in the Paris Latin quarter, and the production pro-duction was hailed in San Francisco last week by Mr. Savage's company as one of the finest in his entire repertoire. reper-toire. The cast will be. notable, introducing intro-ducing Jean Lane Brooks, Marion Ivell and other favorites with the company. com-pany. Seats and boxes for the opera festival fes-tival will be placed on sale Thursday mOrning, March 23, and the numerous inquiries that have been pouring in for the past ten days point to a series of large and brilliant audiences. The scale of prices will range from $2.50 to 50 centri. THE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. The third concert of this newly organized or-ganized club is sure to receive the patronage pat-ronage of all lovers of music. Its manager, man-ager, J. D.
