Show Royal Convert Received by the Pope. Rome, May 10. The pope today received re-ceived in audience former Queen Natalie Na-talie of Servla. His holiness listened while she recounted the troubles of her life and the happiness to come to her with her conversion to Catholicity. After receiving the papal benediction, the former queen burst into tears. Some time elapsed before she was able to control herself. Cardinal Rampolla, the papal secretary secre-tary of state, had arranged that former Queen Natalie's audience was to be private, but the pope, at the last moment, mo-ment, altered the ararngements and received re-ceived her with full sovereign honors.. Prince Ruspoli, 1 surrounded by the Swiss guard, awaited her at the foot o fthe royal staircase and conducted the former queen to the ante-chamber, where the pope, standing at the entrance, en-trance, received her. Raising Natalie from her knees, the pontiff took her hand and led her to his study. The tudience lasted half an hour. On her departure the pope accompanied the former queen a few steps and bestowed a parting blessing. |
