All report having had a good time, all wishing Mr. and Mrs. McCormick many more happy anniversaries. j OBITUARY. The funeral of John R. Williams, the ! victim of Monday night's tragedy at j Silver Bow junction, was conducted I from Sherman's undertaking rooms I Friday afternoon. It was attended by the father and son of the unfortunate man. and by a large delegation from the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen, Fire-men, besides many friends who had known Mr. Williams during his residence resi-dence in Butte and Anaconda. At 2 o'clock (he funeral procession proceeded to Saint Patrick's church, where services were held by Father De Sieic. interment was made in the. Catholie -cemetery"- ' . Mrs.: Margaret Brophy, the wife of P. J. Bro-phy. one "of the pioneer merchants mer-chants of Butte, died at Saint James' hospital Friday afternoon at 6 o'clock, after a short illness. She was taken to the hospital about a. week ago. and on Tuesday submitted to a surgical operation opera-tion from the effects of which she never nev-er rallied. She was attended at her deathbed by her husband and mother, Mrs. D'Arcy, and by her three children, as -well as by Father Callahan, all of whom she recognized, and whom she bade a last loving farewell. Her mother arrived from her home at Charlotte. Ills., last fall, and had been with her during the entire period of her illness. Mrs. Brophy was born at Charlotte. Ills., July 14. IRfiP. and was nearly 3:1 years of age. Her maiden name was Margaret D'Arcy. She was married. to Mr. Brophy at Charlotte. Jan. Z. 1SP3. and immediately came to Butte, where she had resided ever since. The three I children who survive her are: D'Arcy. aged t years: John A., aged years, and P. J.. aged 3 years. . The news of the death of Mrs. Brophy Bro-phy came as a shock to her many friends, as few were even aware of the fact that she had been indisposed. Her death will be sincerely mourned by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance acquaint-ance and the deepest sympathy will go out to Mr. Brophy and his motherless children. The children are unusually bright and, loveable, and the idols of their fond "parents. Mrs. Brophy was an earnest, devout Christian woman, a most loving and tender mother and wife, and a woman of brilliant attainments attain-ments and a. social favorite. She was charitable and kind to the afflicted or suffering and her untimely taking off leaves a void In more than one household, house-hold, but nothing in comparison to the gloom that it has cast in the home of her devoted husband and sweet chil- dreh.'-.ln Jier deaiji one of the happiest homes in Butte is bereft of its sun-J shine and life which no consolation can rccopense. lest it be that she has gone to , that reward which an admirably, spent Christian life so well deserves, she was a womanly woman in all that the. word implies. Her death was announced .Friday night to the congregation attending the May devotions 1 in Saint Patrick's church, at which -she 'had been a constant con-stant attendant until her sudden illness, ill-ness, and the prayers' Jof the people went up with one accord for the repose of her soul.
