Timothy Kinney, the prominent Rock Springs merchant, is in the city, visiting visit-ing his daughter, Miss Angela Kinney. Mr. Kinney and Miss Dora and Mary Kinney have just returned from an extended ex-tended European trip. The young ladies are now in Chicago, visiting friends, but will soon arrive 'in Salt Lake. Miss Luce, retiring president of St. Mary's Alumnae association, will entertain enter-tain the members at her, home next Sunday afternoon. Miss Luce receives and deserves the earnest appreciation of all the members for the good work she has done as president. She is very popular with all and would easily be re-elected, only the 'rules of th association forbid the re-election of any officers for 'successive terms. The leading event of the past week was the marriage of Miss Claire Claw-son Claw-son and Dr. Chauncey Bennedict. Thf young couple have a legion of friends who wish every happiness and good fortune to attend them through life. Joseph Dederichs came in from Stockton last Tuesday. The many friends of Thomas Lynch are delighted to hear of- the succes. of his mining interests in Nevada. The meeting of St. Mary's Alumnae next Monday will be called to order promptly at 5 p. m. All the members are requested to be present at 4:45. John Doyle, an experienced mining man, who formerly lived in Park City, came up from Tonopah last week anc win remain in the city for several days. Mrs. W. Capell and her sister, Misj Eva O'Neil of Wells, Nev.. are spending spend-ing a few days in the eity. Mr. Capell and the O'Neil brothers are the wel known cattle kings of western and southern Nevada, Mrs. Peter Sanger, wife of the chief of the fire department of Butte, is ill at the Holy Cross hospital. Arrangements have been completec" for the annual banquet and meeting of the Alumnae association of St. Mary's academy. The final meeting of committees com-mittees was held last Sunday, when it was decided that the business meeting meet-ing shall be held at 5 o'clock, the entertainment en-tertainment at 6 and the banquet at ' o'clock on the evening of November 4. The entertainment will consist of the reading of the school paper, established estab-lished a month ago. the number to be presented to be called the Alumnae number. The reading of the paper will be interspersed with vocal and instrumental instru-mental selections by young ladies from the school. At the banquet Mrs. Sullivan Sul-livan will give the toast, "The Bishop and Clergy:" Miss McFadden, "Our Absent Members," Miss Farlinger "Our Alma Mater," and Miss Nora Gleason will have something to say about "The Old Girl of the Old Times." The mandolin man-dolin and Guitar club of St. Mary's will render the music during the banquet. ban-quet. Right Rev. Bishop Scanlan, Vicar General Kiely and Rev. Father Curran, the chaplain of St. Mary's, will be the guests of the AJumnae. It. is hoped that all the graduates of St Mary's Vho live in the city will be present. Many are coming from adjoining ad-joining states and will be entertained by resident graduates. P. J. Quealy of Kemmerer is in the city for a short stay. F. J. Westcott went up to Wyoming last week, on business. R. C.
