Some weeks ago when the Carroll Institute Dramatic Club at Washington, Washing-ton, presented Gillette's "Secret Ser-a Ser-a i'-e" in such a creditable manner as to create a stir, there was introduced to the public a young Catholic actress; in the person of Miss Catherine Lough-tan, Lough-tan, w ho took everyone by surprise by her clever acting. Miss Loughran appeared ap-peared on the professional stage last veek in the Columbia theatre's produc- lion of "The Whitewashing of Julia."' and verified very emphatically the words of commendation and prophecy . pronounced for her a month ago.
