Show Funeral of Rev. Mother Austin. . The funeral of the late Mother Austin, Aus-tin, Rev. Mother of the Presentation convent, Listowel, took place on Thursday Thurs-day morning under circumstances of the most - solemn nature. As already reported, Mother Austin was a great favorite amongst the old Inhabitants of Listowel, and many of those who had the sad pleasure of being present at her interment had been brought up under her most watchful, Christian and secular superintendance. Needless to say that the pretty little convent chapel was crowded at the solemn requiem high mass on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, and many a tear was shed by the congregation, especially especial-ly the female portion of it, who had been brought up under her zealous care. At the high mass the Rev. Father P. Sheehan. C. C, Listowel, was celebrant; cele-brant; Very Rev. T. Canon Davis, P. P., V. F., deacon; Rev. J. Dillon, C. C, Tralee, sub-deacon; Rev. P. Marshall, vice president Killarney seminary. The other clergy present were Very Rev. Canon Molyneaux, P. P., Bally-bunion; Bally-bunion; Very Rev. Canon Hayes, P. P., Ballylongford: Rev. P. 0Regan. P. P., Spa, Tralee; Rev. T. Trant, C. C, Bally Bal-ly bunion; Rev. J. Burke, C. C. do.; Rev. ' J. Breen, St. Michael's college, Listowel; Rev. John Dillon, C. C, Ballylongford; Bal-lylongford; Rev. T. Lyne, C. C, New-towndillon; New-towndillon; Rev. Arthur Murphy, P. P., Brosna: Rev. J. Dillon, O. C, Listowel. The interment took place in the little lit-tle cemetery attached to the convent a cemetery consecrated srtid rendered doubly sacred by the fact that some of the grandest ladies who- ever ennobled en-nobled the sacerdotal profession, to which she had been attracted by divine inspiration. The next of kin present at the melancholy mel-ancholy proceedings were her first cousins. Miss Hanoria O'Sullivan and Miss Mary O'Sullivan of Caherciveen. The choir at high mass was composed com-posed of Mr. Marshall, organist. Do- j minican church, Limerick; Messrs. P. Hayes, Mrs. T. O'Brien, Mrs. D. Leane, Miss Harnett, Miss McAuliffe. The Gregorian requiem was rendered by the choir, and followed up by the best possible pos-sible rendering of the Dead March in Saul. The funeral arrangements, in the hands of Mr. John Hannon, were creditably cred-itably carried out. Kerry People. |
