The fair at the Auditorium draws large crowds every evening- and the receipts at all the booths are rapidly increasing. A musical programme was rtndered by Mrs. McDonald-Estell and Mrs. DeCamp and was greatly enjoyed by the large crowd that was present. The voting contest lor the most pop-u pop-u la i little girl is progressing and a Rtcat deal of interest i.s being taken in the event. Tuesday evening a specially prepared pre-pared programme was rendered. Those taking part were Madame Wricke, Mrs. E. Laughlin anil Genevieve Walsh. A faint idea of the respect and esteem es-teem in which Nicholas Kessler was held in this community was shown yesterday at his funeral. Despite the inclemency of the weather, the fact that the services were held several miles from town and. that the roads wore bad. several hundred people attended at-tended the sen-jces at the house and as many as could secure vehicles went to Korestvale, where the interment was had. 7n the throng were men prominent in business life and in state affairs; pioneers and newcomers: men with large, bank accounts and men who never had a bank account: young men and old men; girls in their teens and women whose gray hair in dicated that they had seen many summers sum-mers come and go. Since the funeral of Colonel C. A. Broadwater there has j been no such outpouring of the people to pay a final iribut lo the dead. Mips Murphy and Miss Adelaide Mur-I'hy Mur-I'hy left for St Joseph, Mo., where they will make a short visit. From there they will go to their winter home-in home-in Florida. ANACONDA. i Catholic Aid Sociey Doing- a Good Work. Quietly and in an unostentatious manner the Catholic Aid society of St. Paul's church, a branch of the League of the Sacred Heart, has been doing a vast deal of good this winter in' relieving reliev-ing distress and in dispensing charity in the city. The society gives with a liberal hand when there -is need and gives without regard to the religion of the needy one. Hundreds of garments have been distributed recently, several business houses of the city contributing. contribut-ing. A considerable sum of money |
