Show OUT OF THE EAST. (By Edwin Carlisle Litsey .ju Rosary Magazine.) g Out of the east the twilight comrs. oray-robed herald of night and rest; Over the sky are its pennons flung, Spanning the arch to the golden west. My heart is sad with doubt and fear, Seeking for light it cannot find; Some say that God is ever near, That only those who will are blind. 4 Out of the east black night comes on Treading the steps of his herald gray; MJy soul cries out for a glimmer of dawn. For dark is iny mind, and I cannot pray! Heavy my heart and my head bent low; Gather the shadows about my soul, Crushing my spirit could I but know That somewhere shines a golden goal! Out of the east the day-beam breaks, tiildjng the sky with its glamor of light; My soul leaps up and wildly awakes! Gone are shadows and gloom of night Spreads the day o'er heaven's plain,. Gone from my heart is doubt and care; Vanished forever distrust and pain. Lo! in their place is faith and prayer! --Rosary Magazine. |
