Show I Obituary. 1 Lindsay. . J. R. Lindsay, one of Beaver county's best known citizer.e, "died suddenly Friday of last week at his home, in Beaver. The- immediate cause of death was congestion of the brain, resulting re-sulting in general paralysis. He was born in Dublin. Ireland, fifty-nine fifty-nine years ago. When 14. years old he emigrated to America and settled in Chicago, where he lived a number of years. With the advent of the Union Pacific railroad he came west and set-; tied in' Eureka, Ney., where he engaged in mining. He was' elected mining recorder re-corder of that district during the White Pine excitement. From.; there he came to Star district and settled in Beaver county, in the early 70s. He followed mining 1 and mercantile business with varying , success . until 1S81. when he was appointed deputy United' States marshall for the Second judicial district, under United States Marshal E. A. Ireland, and conducted the office with painstaking ability for four years. The last years of his life, as health would permit", were devoted to mining, especially in looking after his interests' in Irdn'coil'nty. wherehe was interested in a group of iron mines with Mathew Cullen, the late Joseph McGary and others. The news of his death brought sorrow sor-row to the hearts of hundreds of friends throughout the west.' Xo man had mere friends than he. He was a m-m of fine, generous impulses, good-hearted almost to a fault.' - The Tntermountain Catholic joins with -a legion of friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved wife and children, who will sadly mis;s a loving husband and father.
