Show ESTEEMED PAIR ARE WED 63 YEARS ON SATURDAY The sixty-third wedding anniversary anniver-sary of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hawkes was spent quietly by the couple at their home in Preston Saturday. Married Octo'jir 11, 1878, in the Salt Lake Endowment House by President Joseph P. Smith, the couple became early pioneers in this locality. Mr. Hawkes was, interested in-terested in, irrigation and aided in building early canals. He was an employee at the first saw mill in Cub river and worked in constructing construct-ing the old Oneida Stake Academy, building. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hawkes have been active dhurch workers until poor health forced them to retire from public service. Mr. Hawkes was born January 12, 1860 to Suel and Elizabeth Zimmerman Zim-merman Lamb who crossed the plains in 1851-52 to Lehi, Utah. Mr. Hawkes' parents were in Hockley Essex, England, when he was born September 21, 1855. They emigrated emi-grated to Uah when he was fifteen (years old and settled in West Weber. We-ber. Both families later moved to Hyde Park. Seven of ten children are living and reside in this county. They are Mrs. Susie Nelson, Wm, Jr., Iris, Mrs. Lois Goaslind, Leon, Harold, and Mrs. Florence Wilcox, o o |
