Show Indians Gun For District Grid Title Monday Preston High's gallant football team will lay their title-.vinning chances on the block Monday when they attempt to turn back the strong Montpelier Bears at Mont-pclier Mont-pclier in a crucial test which will deckle the winner of the Southeastern South-eastern Idaho football race. The Indians need a victory or a tie with the Bears to finish up their league's play with the pennant pen-nant sewed up. If they fall before be-fore the onslaught of the Montpelier Mont-pelier eleven it will give Malad first place, with Preston and Montpelier Mont-pelier tied for second. Preston defeated de-feated Malad here earlier in the season 12-6. The Preston-Montpelier clash is always a colorful attraction. The game is an annual affair falling on Armistice day each year. Last year in a spectacular game Preston turned back Montpelier 19-7. This year Preston is reputed to be slightly stronger than their rivals from across the hill but Preston has been severely handicapped handi-capped due to the beet harvest vacation va-cation cutting into their practice sessions. The greater majority of the players play-ers have missed three weeks' practice prac-tice getting back into harness only last Mondoy. A few of the piay-3i-s are still topping beets however and may not see any work tms week in practice scrimmages. Montpelier has a new coach and i new formation at their scnuol md with a veteran team back, possibilities pos-sibilities for a. real battle loom, if weather conditions remain favor-ible favor-ible a large delegation of Preston students and townspeople are expected ex-pected to make the trip. |
