Show GAME DEPARTrriT TRANSPLANTS BEAVERS The Idaho Game department transplanted 1,121 live beaver jar. ing the period fro July 1 t0 q(. tober 1 at a total cjt of $2.97 w beaver, it was announced n;s week by Dude Dillingham, leader of the Federal Aid in Wildlife ! toration project under which the work was conducted. Durfe the hot, dry weather of July and August most of the beaver were transported at night to preveti loss. Beaver were taken generally in irrigated or low-land areas where they were causing damage am were transplanted to higher readies readi-es of the same watershed. When taken to other streams where beai-er beai-er did not occur, they were re moved from overpopulated area and planted upon the recommendi tion of the forest service, dirisiai of grazing or conservation offi cers. |
