Show DR flit MACFARLANE OPPOSED TO CENTRALIZATION OF HOSPITALIZATION TION The hope of Salt Lake City and County Count interests for lor centralization of state hospitalization In Salt Batt Lake City was brought to the front again last w week weep t when the matter was considered at the of oC the Utah Federation of Women's Women Clubs In Provo However no definite re recommendations recommendations recommendations re- re commendations were ere made but the matter was referred to committees for further studies The recommendation Is that the Salt Lake County Hospital be made madea maden a n state hospital with state support for the care of all indigent cases cues The plan would be to have ha each county contribute to the support of the state hospital and then send all Indigent cases to Salt Lake City for care This move would be extremely to rural Utah since it tt would be not only necessary for any Indigent patient to travel the theIon thelong Ion long distance to the state capital before they could receive ho hospital but it would take away county support for local community ity lIy and county hospitals which are areso areso areso so important that all alt people In the rural area This would so cripple le rural hospitals hospitals hos hos- in rural areas to an extent that the cost of to everyone would be greatly Increased and in many Instances would prevent prevent prevent pre pre- vent the operation of local hospitals hos hoe thus depriving all aU who h live e ein In the area of the beneRs and protection of a hospital for the proper care of the sick alck Utah has been struggling ng to overcome overcome overcome over over- come the of going to the city for this service and to provide proper for rural areas While much has has been accomplished d there there is sUll still much be done and the proposal of Salt Lake City would not only prevent this additional Improvement but would put state back into the unsatisfactory unsatisfactory un un- satisfactory conditions of twenty- twenty five years ago aio A committee appointed by the President of the United States to study health pr prof ems reported that the crying need of ot the nation Is more rural All this Is pointed out by rr f M M.
