W H. H Leigh BIOGRAPHICAL John William Berry was born in Utah Jan 17 1877 He was the only son of William S. S Berry and Rebecca R. R Berry who were early pioneers pioneers pioneers pio pio- and who endured the many hardships Incident to the settling of Southern Utah William was left fatherless at the age of seven years his father having been killed while doing missionary work He lIe grew up to be dutiful and obedient and was a great help and comfort to his widow widow- ed mother He was the main support support support sup sup- port of the family for many years He attended the B B. Y U U. at Provo under Dr and did excellent work while there He preformed successfully a two years year's mission to the South Southern rn States Four years he served as counsellor to Bishop Jos S. S Berry of ward and for sixteen sixteen sixteen six six- teen years was Bishop of the same wardan office he filled with trust and ana honor Everything he was c called to todo todo todo do he did it with cheerfulness and with the best of his ability often sacrificing sacrificing sac sac- I for help of others He was a hard wor worker er and took pleasure In developing his large farm farmand farmand farmand and stocking It with pure-bred pure sheep and cattle of he was very fond He leaves a widow and seven children children children child child- ren besides seven sisters two half- half sisters and one half-brother half and a host of friends to mourn his un untimely untimely untimely un un- timely death |
