Show i LOCAL ITEMS OF INTEREST Miss Maxine Sanders, a student at Wasatch academy at Mt. Pleasant, is visiting for a few days with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Hart J. Sanders, at Spearmint. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Larsen were combining business with pleasure at Emery the first days of the week. Miss Evelyn Mortensen returned Tuesday after visiting with friends and relatives in Salt Lake for several sever-al days. Mrs. Clarence Madsen and children visited Monday at Ephraim and were I guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Anderson. Miss Bertha Mortensen, a graduate nurse, came down from Salt Lake City Friday, returning Tuesday. Miss Mortensen was visiting with her par-en's, par-en's, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mortensen. Ira Overfelt, cashier, and C. E. Andersen, An-dersen, assistant cashier, of the Gunnison Gun-nison Valley bank, and members of the Southern Utah Bankers' association, associa-tion, attended the regular monthly meeting of the organization, held at Jlcnroo Saturday evening. Miss Julia Hagan, who has been doing professional nursing at Los Angeles, An-geles, came in from the coast last w.. ek and is the guest of her parents, Dr. and Mrs. J. A. Hagan. Miss Hagan Ha-gan plans to remain here until Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Niel Sorens'on returned re-turned to their home at Salt Lake Tuesday, after spending several daysi here as guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Cribble, parents of Mrs. Sorenson. Mrs. Ida B. Nielson has gone to Salt Lake, where she will be the guest of her daughter, Mrs. B. A. Hughes, for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Ledail Lewis, her-i from California on a visit with Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Lewis, were made the happy parents of a fine baby boy October Oc-tober 9. Mother and son are reported as doing splendidly. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Lay, who spent some five months at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Christensen at Cen-terfield, Cen-terfield, have gone to Taft, Calif. The Lays expect to be absent several months. Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Bath were host and hostess to a few friends Saturday Satur-day night of" last week. Progressive 500 was the diversion of the evening and at a late hour a delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served by the hostess. Mrs. M. M. Duggins, Mrs. Editha Rosenlund and Dean Bawden, the latter a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Duggins, were Salt Lake visitors Monday and Tuesday. Dr. and Mrs. G. Stanford Rees motored mo-tored to Salt Lake Friday of last week. Mrs. Rees remained for a few days visit with relatives and Dr. Rees returned home late Friday night. Mrs. June Metcalf, Mrs. Joe Mortensen, Mor-tensen, Mrs. Joe Willardson and Miss Bertha Mortensen, were dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Aleda Jensen at Ephraim Monday. Mrs. Leola Edwards was named president and Mrs. Leo Bardsley was selected secretary-treasurer of the Wide Awake bridge club at a meeting meet-ing of the members held at the home of Mrs. Bardsley Thursday afternoon of last week. The officers will serve for "the ensuing year. Mrs. Marvel C. Brown and children, and her sister, Miss Maxine Childs, came down from Idaho. Falls Wednesday Wed-nesday morning, to be at the bedside of their mother, Mrs. C. H. Childs, who is seriously ill. Mr. and Mrs. Walt Whittaker of Castlegate, came in from the east Tuesday night and were guests at the F. H. Bath home. Wednesday morning, Mr. Whittaker left for the mountains to seek his buck deer, and i Mrs. Whittaker will visit for a few j days with her sister, Mrs. Bath. I |
