Show JudgingChamps" Honored By Lions Gunnison Valley's stock judging team, which was taken to the stato fair to compete against other judg-"ng judg-"ng teams of the state, and which won first honors and commendatory congratulations con-gratulations for the ability shown, I were guests of honor at the regular j luncheon-meeting of the Gunnison I Lions club held at the Wistaria Wednesday Wed-nesday evening of last week. The I judging team comprised Keith Sorcn-son Sorcn-son of Centerficld, Howard Jensen of Axtell, and McEwan Voorhees of Christenburg. I. L. Henrie, who had the team in charge while at the stat, fair, and instructor at the Gunnison Valley high school, was also a special guest with the "champion" judging team. During the banquet eatdi mem-jbor mem-jbor of the team gave a brief talk, out-j out-j lining some of the points used in cap-, cap-, luring the first honors. Mr. Henri.-! j also gave a brie f talk on the success land experience gained through the visit to the fair, when his group came out the winner. I Members of thet Lions club, follow- ing the talks given by the boys, paid j a high compliment to all members of jthe judging team, as well as to Mr. ; Henrie, the leader, for the wonderful achievement. j W. Harvey Ross, president and gen-1 gen-1 eral manager for the Gunnison Sugar 'company, and who is a member of t'l " I local club, gave an in' eresting an. I ! educational talk on the beet crops of ! the valley. He pointed out the fact that bee1; raising was strictly scientific scien-tific and unless1 this was applied the efforts would prove futile. He added, though, that growers in the territory were fast learning the fine points th:it brought good crops and through thh not only would the grower benefit but the factory would profit as well and a greater distribution of money would result. I. L. Henrie and Payton Alexander, both of the high school teaching corps, were voted in as new members of the Gunnison Lions club. |
