It is clear that the association is vigilant and is giving its attention to all proposed expenditures. Superintendents and boards of education edu-cation are asked to study carefully the school budget law and to follow religiously its requirements, inasmuch as June is the month in which the budget is to be presented and finally acted upon. Every taxing unit in the state is asked to analyze the budget i and cooperate with the school officials in making the budget fit in the pockets poc-kets of the taxpayers. In arranging the budget the school : boards are asked to use the following questions as a measuring stick to determine the amount of money to be allotted: What do we want our schools to do for us? How much are we willing to pay for school services? How many of these services logically belong t.o the schools? Is our school giving us a full dollar's worth of service? Is the expenditure of the school dollar made in such a way as to add to the community's welfare ? Is the tax burden bur-den created by the schools keeping: pace with the ability of the people to assume it? |
