Show Centerfield Twain !s lined for Possession James Lott and his wife gained some knowledge Thursday morning of the Volstead prohibition law, and ;f thoy were unaware before, they are .now convinced that possession of 'home brew" is a violation of the laws outl'ned in the Volstead act. T ott and his wife had a hearing before be-fore Justice of the Peace Reuben Christensen Thursday morning, the charge, sworn to by county officers, being that the pair was found with beer in their possession. When asked for pleas, both admitted the charge, and each was given 60 days in the county jail. A provision, however, was made that in the event the twain .vould never again "indulge in the osession of beer," that thirty days of the sentence would be suspended. Lott and his better half, though, will have to serve at least thirty days in durance vile, for the misdemeanor. Mr. and Mrs. Lott were apprehended apprehend-ed at Centerfield about May 2nd, and in the home a large crock half filled with beer was confiscated and held for evidence. They were hailed before the court at Centerfield, and entered pleas of not guilty.' As the time approached ap-proached for trial, the accused asked for a change of venue, fearing, evidently, evi-dently, to face the court in their own home town. When brought to Gunnison Gunni-son and taken before Justice Christensen, Chris-tensen, their plea of not guilty was changed to guilty, with the fines assessed as-sessed as mentioned above. |
