"The recommendation on reclamation reclama-tion is all that the west could hope for, and of vital importance in view of the fact that many influential men in the eastern states are directly opposed op-posed to any further reclamation activity ac-tivity in the west," Director Peterson continued. This recommendation urges that the reclamation service confine its eff...'ts to finishing projects already storU-d and to rehabilitating deficient water rights on lands now cultivated and occupied, but that no new lands or new colonization projects be undertaken under-taken either through irrigation or drainage until they are justified by the agricultural needs of the nation. Western representatives also succeeded suc-ceeded in inserting recommendations calling for protection of the water-j water-j sheds in the Rocky Mountain area, to i be administered by federal jurisdie-i jurisdie-i tion, according to Director Peterson.
