Show Stake Conference Is Well Attended V, At the quarterly conference of the v- Mormon church, held at the Gunnison Valley high school auditorium last Saturday and Sunday, a goodly attendance atten-dance was notd and the several sessions ses-sions held throughout the two days were filled with instructive talks by the many speakers. At the special priesthood meetings, the work of tha priesthood was stressed and thoso laboring in this department of the church were urged to greater activity. The principal discussions before the priesthood were offered by President Chas. Hansen and Hans C. Olsen, a counselor to President Hansen. Charles Rasmussen, stake chairman of the priesthood, and district scout commissioner of the Bryce Canyon council, and Miss Naomi Fjeldsted, were also among the speakers. Those taking an active part in the several sessions and who made addresses ad-dresses Sunday morning, were President Presi-dent S. J. Fjeldsted, Chas. L. Thorpe, president of the 65th quorum of seventies; sev-enties; C. Dewey Lund, president of the 3rd quorum of elders; Claud Christensen, Edward Christensen, Miss Lygia Felt and Ivan Frandsen, stake vanguard commissioners; Patriarch Pat-riarch Brigham Jensen, I. J. Jensen, Howard Childs and Mrs. Joseph Larson. Lar-son. Roy Lund, Bishop Henry Bartholomew, Bar-tholomew, Mrs. Jean Fjeldsted, Leon Mellor, A. Barlow- and President Hansen, Han-sen, were the main speakers Sunday afternoon. Leo D. Bardsley, principal of the local high school and post commander com-mander of Gunnison Guard Mount, Post 104, American Legion, gave an address on the 18th amendment and the attitude of the American Legion at the annual convention held at Detroit last month. At a business session held during the conference, Miss' Naomi- Fjeldsted, Fjeld-sted, president of the Y. L. M. I. A., Affalone Jensen, first counselor, Mrs. Veneta Peterson, second counselor, Rachel Childs, secretary-treasurer, Amanda Fjeldsted, Marie Sorenson, board members, and Lola Nielson of the stake primary board, were released. re-leased. Mrs. Mary.C. Watts was sustained as president of the Y. L. M. I. A., with Mrs. Christina Jensen as first counselor and Mrs. Milton Perkins as second counselor. Miss Bertice Larson Lar-son was sustained as the new secretary-treasurer. The concluding session of the quarterly quar-terly conference was held Sunday evening, eve-ning, when the Mutual Improvement association took charge and gave a splendid and interesting program. |
