Show Road Abandonment Opposed By Farmers County road appropriations for what is known as the Kcams-Clarion and the Ccnterfield-Clarion county roads, were sought by delegations from Gunnison Gun-nison and Centerfield at the regular monthly' meeting of the county com-- com-- missioners at Manti Tuesday. Petitions Peti-tions of protest against the abandonment abandon-ment of appropriations for the Kearns-Clarion road were presented to the board members and H. A. Kearns and Bayard Tuft were at the meeting as proponents of the old county coun-ty road. Last year, it was stated, the county commissioners appropriated $400 for improvement work, but none of the money was used for the purpose pur-pose for which it was intended, and backers of the old road are wondering wonder-ing why. D. II. Whittenburg, agriculturist for the sugar company, J. L. Jensen and B'Ttre Frnndsen, supporting the Cen-. Cen-. torfield-Clarion road, were also attendants at-tendants at the meeting. These representatives rep-resentatives brought out the fact that tho Gunnison Sugar company had expended ex-pended approximately $2000 for the bridge across the Sevier river and that the road accomodated nearly 80 per cent of the farmers on the west side. Commissioner Cock, it was reported, report-ed, voted that oppi'opriations for both roads be made, but action was not taken at the meeting. The county commissioners are to make an investigation investi-gation some time during the coming week, and until the investigation is made, no definite action is to be taken. |
