Show Contracts Awarded; Opening Date Is Set Anderson & Hogan, Manti contractors, contract-ors, were the successful bidders for the improvement work to be done on the, Washington public school in Gunnison, Gun-nison, at a recent meeting of the South Sanpete school board. The work will comprise of reshingling the entire roof and under the terms as provided in the contract. The bid was $425.78. The contract for shingling the May-field May-field public school, went to Carpenter & Anderson of Manti, the price being be-ing ,$577.50. The Ephraim school building, which will also undergo repairs re-pairs in the way of shingling, will be handled by the Albert Johnson Lumber company of Ephraim. This firm bid lowest, the price for the job being $715.00. Other plans outlined by ""members of the school board were to get all buildings in readiness for the opening open-ing of school, which is set for September Sep-tember 8th. The Washington building is to be refurnished with new radiators, radia-tors, thoroughly renovated and cleansed cleans-ed by the time for opening the fall school session. Several changes will be made at the Gunnison Valley high school, among the most important being the dividing of the shower baths in the girl's department. Heretofore the baths have been open and afforded no privacy. Another shower will also be installed for the girls. The halls of the high school will also be painted paint-ed with cement hardening, a special preparation for that class of wall. In the matter of purchasing coal for the several schools of the South Sanpete district, the matter was left to members mem-bers of the respective districts. Registration for school attendance will be opened September 6th, and the schools will be open for regular sessions September 8th. All students eligible, will be forced to register, ac-cording ac-cording to the announcement made by the members, and the board is determined deter-mined to enforce the law relative, to attendance to thejetter. |
