And yet, those amongst us who are the most hardened unbelievers, unbeliev-ers, would have no hesitation at all in saying about a man "he has a jovial disposition" thus unconsciously confirming the old idea that the stars and planets have an influence upon our nature and constitution. For the word "jovial" in the phrase under consideration, comes to us from Jove, in turn derived from Jupiter, which planet was supposed to govern man's constitution to the extent of making him happy and cheerful just as our word "lunatic" is a throw-back to the days when too much contempla . tion of the moon (Luna) made -a man insana Science is dead long live science! So it has always been down through the centuries. And while astrology may have died, it has not quite been buried.
