Show HONORED ON BIRTHDAY. J. M. Knighton, member of the South Sanpete school board, had his annual birthday Sunday (we won't tell his age). To successfully stage a good surprise for Mr. Knighton, the faculty of the Washington school played a deep plot and gave the school board member a thriller of a surprise. On the pretense he was to have a "chicken dinner," he was lured lur-ed to a neighbor's home. The neighbor neigh-bor had other ideas and led the unsuspecting un-suspecting Mr. Knighton through a dark alley. Here the plot thickened j and a group of teachers suddenly appeared ap-peared and yelled, "stick Vin up'1 From the hold-up scene the group I went to the Gunnison hotel where an elaborate spread with roast chicken, was the piece de resistance. Following Follow-ing a merry time over the banquet table tho party then went to the Knighton home where progressive rook was played. Mrs. Edgar Reid of Manti, who with County Superintendent Superin-tendent E. T. Reid, were special guests; 'min the ladies prize. The gentleman's prize was won by J. E. Metcalf. Mr. Knighton was presented with a year's subscription to the American Am-erican Magazine. |
