Show HUMOR FROM GENEVA. Raymond Leslie Buell, research director of the League of Nations, says in a release of the Foreign Policy Poli-cy Association discussing the duties of the L'nited States in defending the 'League of Nations covenant: "If the United States follows a policy which warns a state not to : violate the pact, but then remains silent if the state proceeds to a violation, vio-lation, many observers believe that the United States will be placed in an impossible situation." The American government signed the Kellogg peace pact along with the nations belonging to the League. , When Russia and China, both signa-' signa-' tories, violated the pact before the link upon it was dry, the American ' government called the attention of i the belligerents to the agreement to arbitrate. Not one of these League members signatory to the pact lifted their voices in support of the position posi-tion of the L'nited States, and the armed invasion of China by Russia went right ahead. Yet we are told that if we do not horn in on League of Nations controversies we will be placed in an "impossible situation." The research department ' of the League of Nations seems to lack a sense of humor. I |
