Show Centerfield 4-H Club Wins Trophy At Meet Professor D. P. Murray, Utah State Extension 4-H club', leader, in his talk Saturday at the fifth annual outing out-ing of the 4-H clubs of Sanpete county coun-ty at Crystal Springs, said that "Sanpete "San-pete not only has the largest enrollment enroll-ment of any county in the state, but that this was the best attended county outing that he had ever attended in Utah." Professor Murray complimented compliment-ed the leaders in charge, the members and parents, on the fine club work that is being put over in Sanpete county. Out of 450 enrolled members in 4-H club work in Sanpete county, there were actually registered Saturday at the outing 355 members, and in addition addi-tion there were 36 leaders and 191 guest parents, making a total registered regis-tered attendance of 582. This number came from thirteen communities throughout the county. Cars began arriving at 8:30 a. m., and kept coming until twelve noon. Volley-ball, indoor baseball, swimming swim-ming and miscellaneous games were participated in until 12:15 o'clock One hour was devoted to luncheon. At j 1 :30 p. m. the meeting convened in the large dance hall, which was overflowing. over-flowing. County Agent C. O. Stott was in charge of the general activities activi-ties as well as the meeting, local leaders from the several communities assisting. Club stunts and program numbers furnished at the meeting were as follows: Mt. Pleasant 1st and 4th Sewing, "Club rally"; Manti 2nd dairy calf, talking contest; Moroni 1st sewing, reading; Clarion 2nd sewing, mush eating contest; Ephraim 3rd cooking, reading; Moroni 1st sewing, club group song; Fairview 1st poultry, egg laying contest; Ephraim 4th sewing, vocal solo; Manti 1st sewing, "The Rosary" - - parody on "Darning Stockings"; Moroni 1st sewing, club group song; Ephraim 1st cooking, costume vocal duet; Gunnison 2nd sewing, reading; Manti 2nd cooking, club group song; Axteil 1st cooking, kitchen bank selection; Ft. Green 1st sewing, reading and clover leaf drill; Moroni 1st and 2nd dairy calf club, "Our Fine Calves"; Spring City 1st 1 sew'ing, vocal solo. Interspersed in the stunts and the songs were talks from state leader D. P. Murray, C. W. Sorenson, president presi-dent of Sanpete county bankers association, as-sociation, County Agent C. O. Stott, and Professor W. D. Porter, secretary to Director Wm Peterson of the extension ex-tension service, entertained with some jokes. Other guests were Mary Hansen Han-sen of the state office, County Agent A. E. Smith of Nephi, Peter Sund-wall, Sund-wall, cashier of Fairview State Bank, and L. A. Peterson of North Sanpete Bank, Mt. Pleasant. The tense moment on the program was the presentation of the silver loving cup from the county bankers association, by President C.i W. Sorenson, Sor-enson, to Miss Roberta Malmgren, leader of the third year sewing club of Crnterfield, for the largest percentage per-centage attendance of any club at the outing. Miss Malmgren had all of her nineteen members present Saturday and all nineteen have completed their club project for this year. Other clubs in attendance that received re-ceived honorable mention in order were as follows: Axteil 1st year cooking cook-ing club and Moroni dairy calf club. The winners of the clubs stunts were: I Fjrst, Ft. Green 1st year sewing club "4-H Drill"; second, Fairview 1st I year poultry club "egg-laying con-I con-I test"; third, Manti 1st year sewing I club "Darning Act." Swimming and water stunts and contests brought the eventful day to a close. |
