Show i Multitudes Join In Yuletide Festivities All was forgotten about ills and ( sorrows as a result of the long- period f "dull" times with the dawning of Christmas, and the citizens of Gun-1 Gun-1 nison joined in observing the ushering usher-ing in of the yuletide season in a fit-i fit-i ting manner. The huge Christmas ! tree, gaily decorated and placed on TVflivi r.tvnnf rrnim f Vi a inoirn irt f sY the true spirit of Christmas. Christmas Eve saw the opening of the yuletide festivities, when an in-: in-: teresting and impressive program was given at the Gunnison ward chapel. cha-pel. The chapel was packed full with happy children and joyous parents. A well prepared program, highly appropriate ap-propriate for the occasion, .comprising a tableau, a Christmas skit, and beautiful songs, was given. Good Old St. Nicholas, iadened with loads of nuts and candies, made his way to the chapel, and at the conclusion of the program presented all the boys and girls with a generous bag of goodies. Five hundred bags of nuts I arid candy were supplied, and after Santa had made happy the boys and girls at the chapel, he wended his way about the city, visiting homes of children who were unable to attend the frolic at the chapel, and there he gave cheer and happinses by leaving a little token. Generally, Christmas day was quietly observed at the many homes, where special dinners were featured, and where the season's greetings were extended. In Centerfield, Axtell, Fayette and Mayfield holiday programs were given giv-en and many from the several communities com-munities joined in observing the day quietly, but with light hearts and genuine . happiness. |
