Show Prominent County Citizen Is Called Announcement of the death of Isaac D. Voorhecs at Manti Thursday of last week, is mournfully felt in Gunnison, as well as through the entire en-tire southern section. Death relieved Mr. Voorhees of a long suffering. More than a year ago he was stricken with pneumonia and a long illness resulted in a weakened heart, which was the cause of death. Ike Vcoihees, as he was familiarly known to his business: associates and friends, was one of Utah's leading citizens. He was a native of Manti. where he resided all of the time. He was born February 28, 1859. When but a young man he developed unusual unus-ual talent in business lines and fortune for-tune smiled upon him. His first endeavors en-deavors were sheep and cattle raising rais-ing and .success followed these attempts. at-tempts. His business expanded and at one time he was one of the largest flock-masters in this section. When it was planned to build a sugar factory, in Gunnison Valley Mr. Voorhecs backed the schema and was primary in interesting capital in the enterprise. At the time of his death Mr. Voorhees was vice-president and a large stockholder in the sugar "ompany. In his own home town he '-as foremost in promoting and upbuilding up-building the city, and he served faithfully faith-fully as presid-nt of the Manti theatre thea-tre board, a director of the Manti telephone company and was a member mem-ber of the city council of the temple city for six years. In 188-1 Mr. Voorhees married Sarah Parsons at Salt Lake. She died December 28, 1006, and in 1900 Mr. Voorhees married Mrs. Luella Tuttle Harmon, who survives him. Children living are Henry, Hillard and Miss Laura Voorhees of Manti. rnd -Mrs, Hazel Denn'son of Salina; Mrs. IJIa Woodhouse of Bingham and Lawrence Harmon of Provo are stepchildren. step-children.
