Show Christmas Seals Have Started Work Christmas Seal letters have been mailed by the Tuberculosis committee to citizens in each section of the state in the annual campaign to secure funds to fight tuberculosis and build up the health of the children so that they may moio successfully res:st all infectious diseases. The letters were addressed and prepared for mailing by the advanced commercial studento in the high school. The returns from the sale will be used by the Tuberculosis association to support the Christmas Seal Summer Sum-mer Camp in Big Cottonwood canyon to which all children of the state are eligible; to provide field nurses who will organize the clinics to be held by the State Board of Health Tuberculosis Tuber-culosis clinician, and do the fellow-up work, and to prepare and dist.ibutr health education material. During the past twenty year?, by means of the funds secured through the sale, of Christmas Seals, the death rate from tuberculosis throughout the country has been cut in half, hut this- d'scase is still the one whicV causes the highest per cent of do'th; in the' young adult group. Utah ha: annually about 125 deaths from tuberculosis tu-berculosis which indicates the pros ence cf about 1200 active cr.se o! the disease. |
