Show Taxpayers Effect Organization Here Ira Overfelt, cashier for the Gunnison Gun-nison Valley bank, was made general gener-al chairman, C. M. Edwards, attorney, attor-ney, vice-chairman; C. E. Embley, president of the town board of Centerfield, Cen-terfield, second vice-chairman, and A. M. Peterson, proprietor of the Wistaria cafe, secretary-treasurer, of the Gunnison Taxpayers association associa-tion at a meeting held at the City hall Thui-sday evening of last week. W. M. McKendrick, manager for the research department of the Utah Taxpayers association, of Salt Lake, was present and aided in effecting the organization of the association for Gunnison. Mr. McKendrick gave a brief talk to the charter members of the local organization, emphasizing the importance of guarding taxation in every particular. He showed by a chart, the bonded indebtedness of the state and countv relative to assessed assess-ed valuation. The speaker urged education of the taxpayers to know just where and how tax monies are being expended, and in doing this curtailment of extravagance will be effected in Sanpete county.
