Show Leland Foote, who has been called J to the Southern States mission fields for the Mormon Church, left for SaltJ i Lake City yesterday morning. He ; will remain at the capitol city for a j week when he will go to Atlanta, j Ga., his headquarters. Leland ex-I ex-I pects to be absent for two years. ! ! William Shea of Marysvale, spent several days here this week as the guest of P. T. Henry of the Gunnison Drug Company. Mrs. Will Jensen of Centerfield, and who underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Salina hospital some two weeks ago, has returned to her home. Mrs. Jensen is getting along splendidly. Mr. and Mrs. Lenno Rosenvall of this city, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Weihbrecht of Salt Lake, left for Fishlake yesterday afternoon. After a brief stop at the famous mountain resort the party will motor to Bryce canyon and expect to return to Gunnison Gun-nison Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cushman and Mrs. J. N. Booth of Midvale, and who spent several days visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Ferre, left for their homes yesterday morning. morn-ing. Relief society members and friends numbering forty-two, gathered at the home of Mrs. Austin Kearns Tuesday Tues-day afternoon and enjoyed a delightful delight-ful time. A short program and refreshments re-freshments combined with a social time were the features of the party Floyd A. Beck, assistant cashier of the Gunnison Valley Bank, and Mrs. Beck, left for Salt Lake this morning. Mr. and Mrs. Beck will take in the rodeo and later will visit . at Clearfield and Ogden. They expect to return the first or the coming week. LOCAL ITEMS OF INTEREST Mr. and Mrs. II. R. Tietjen and children of Monroe, and Mrs. Forrest Squires of Manti, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Beauregard Beaure-gard last Saturday. 1 I Mr. and Mrs. L. M. C. Christensen of Manti, were guests over Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. P. Peterson. 1 Miss Monetva Willardsen of Saltj Lake, and who spent a few days visit- ing with her sister, Mrs. M. D. Beauregard, Beaur-egard, has returned to her home at Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Christopherson and Ellen and Clifford Crawford, guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Baxter, have returned to their home at Garfield. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Sprott and Fred Billingsley, of Grand Junction, were the guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Peterson this week. The visitors left for Salt Lake today and after seeing the exciting scenes at the rodeo will return to their Colorado home. Miss Tursell Childs, after spending a month at Ephraim, visited at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. S. Childs. She left for Salt Lake Monday and expects to be absent for six weeks or more, Henry Christensen of the News force, visited with friends and relatives rela-tives at Ephraim last Sunday. . Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Tuft, Mr. and Mrs. Bayard Tuft and Miss Mabel Larson returned yesterday from a three day outing. They spent a day at Fishlake, later going to Bryce canyon. I Miss Mae Beck of Otto, Wyo., and who has been the guest of friends here for some time, left for her home last Friday. She was accompanied as far as Spanish Fork by Nadine Johnson. The latter will visit for a short time with Mrs. Elna Dibble before be-fore returning to Gunnison. Mrs. L. A. Davis and Miss Marj-orie Marj-orie Gaddie of Sugar City, Idaho, returned re-turned to their home Friday of last week. They were the guests at the Tiome of their sister, Mrs. L. J. Arnold Ar-nold at Centerfield, for a week. Miss Lois Beauregard has returned from a ten day visit to relatives at Ephraim. $ Mrs. George Larson has returned from a week's visit with her husband at Salt Lake. Mrs. J. L. Kearns, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Rex Kearns, motored motor-ed to Tooele last Sunday. Mrs. Kearns who will be joined by her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Peck, will go to Denver for an indefinite visit with Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Jay. L. R. Fournier, superintendent for the Telluride Power company, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs: Frournier and friends, were here from Richfield Tuesday. From here the party motored to Palisade Pal-isade Park for an outing. Mr. and Mrs. K. J. Sorenson and Mr. and Mrs. AV. L. Thomas, of Salt Lake, were here Sunday for a short visit to relatives. They attended the party given at Payson by the Utah Poultry Producers association, Saturday, Sat-urday, motoring to Gunnison after the festivities. Mrs. Ted Smith of Idaho Falls, Idaho, came in from the north last Friday and is the guest for a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert I Swain. |
