Show Basin Field Day Draws Big Crowd The field days that were held at he Great Basin Experiment Station n Ephraim canyon, August 14 and 15 vere attended by college, extension, ind forest workers as well as livestock live-stock men from the entire Sta e of Utah. Sanpete county was well tep-resented tep-resented with more than fifty people-from people-from various parts of the county. In all there were approximately 150 people in attendance. The party left Ephraim at noon on Friday making several stops en-route en-route fo the station inspecting experimental ex-perimental areas. After a splendid 3upper served in cafteria style (' n horseshoe pitching, jumping, ,md other contests were enjoyed, ar.er which a campfire meeting was h'-ld, many topics were discussed, the major ma-jor one of which was handled by Director Dir-ector William Peterson of the Ul.ih Agricultural College. The following morning the experimental experi-mental areas under way were visited. Stops were made on the road from the station to the top of the mountain moun-tain at Alpine. Among the points considered con-sidered were the following: First, Natural revegitation of the range lands; Second, vegetational readiness; readi-ness; Third, climate and plant growth; Fourth, artificial reseed-ing; reseed-ing; Fifth, planting to check erosion; ero-sion; Sixth, relation of grazing to run off and erosion. These and other problems were given consideration. The forest officials deserve our hearty congratulations on the splendid splen-did way in which they 'took care of the large crowd.
