Show I Many Cattle Die j From "Black Leg"; "Black-leg," among the cattle in North Sevier and Sanpete counties, has reached an alarming condition, according to Dr. R. C. Swalberg, dep-' uty state veterinarian. Since last Friday and up to Tuesday, eight ani- j mals had succumbed to the disease ,J and fear is entertained that the dis ease will spread. In the south fields of Redmond, Dr. Swalberg stated, about 1,000 of 3,000 head had been exposed. Every effort is being done to check the spread and Dr. Swalberg, with seven assistants, vaccinated more than 500 head of stock that had been exposed Monday and Tuesday. A close watch is being kept and suspected sus-pected animals are segregated and kept from the healthy cows. It has not as yet been determined as to how the disease reached the section. Some four weeks ago Per Peterson of Redmond lost an animal. No report was made at the time and j it is suspected that the malady got j its start then. It has been more than two years since there was any evidence evi-dence of "black-leg" in this section. Stock owners have been asked to cooperate. incieckjng furthe. spread.
