Show HORSE AND COW COLLIDE; BOY PAINFULLY INJURED Francis Witbeck, the 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dee Witbeck of Christenburg, is at his home nursing nurs-ing a badly lacerated ear and bad face, arm and body bruises as the result of being thrown from the horse he was riding Wednesday of last week. In the mix-up the upper portion of the right ear of the lad was torn from the head and it required re-quired several stitches to replace the member. The body and face bruises, bruis-es, while not serious, are quite painful, pain-ful, and Francis will be laid up for several days . The boy, together with a number of playmates, was riding to a swimming swim-ming hole. The horse on which Francis was mounted, a speeder, got beyond control of his rider and was trying for a record. A cow in the meadow got in the way and the two animals collided with great force. The cow was knocked to the ground and in the collision Francis was thrown heavily to the ground, when he sustained his injuries. The horse was catapaulted over the cow and landed heavily on the opposite side. The boys with Francis rushed the injured member to his home and later lat-er he was taken to the office of Dr. Hagan. At last reports young Witbeck was doing as well as could be expected, but he declares he does not aspire to be a jockey when cows blockade the race course. |
