Show Sport Pages Well Read Among Athletic Women More women read the sport pages of newspapers than ever before, and the reason is the recent extensive development develop-ment of amateur sports, said Edward W. Cochrane, sports editor of the Kansas City Journal-Post in addressing address-ing the Inland Daily Press association at Chicago. Put professional sports in the background back-ground and play up the games In which many take part and are Interested, Inter-ested, such as tennis, golf, basket ball, track and swimming, and circulation figures will leap upward, he advised. "More people know who Walter Hagen is than the British ambassador to the United States," he said. "And more of them read the sport page before be-fore they look at the big stories on the first page." |
