Show Larsons Celebrate Golden Wedding Surrounded by their children and hosts of waira and admiring friends, Mr. and Mrs. - H. E. Larson, long time residents of this city, and high-, ly respected-citizens, celebrated their golden 'wedding anniversary at their home in this city Thursday of . ' last week. The event proved one of the most elaborate and enjoy- able affairs of the eai ly fall festivities festivi-ties and those who were fortunate to be present will long remember the occasion. j The celebration of the 50th wed-1 ding anniversary was planned by the . children and nothing was left undone to make the celebration a charming " success. Some seventy-five were present, , including the children, grandchildren, great - grandchildren and friends. Due to his inability to get away a son in Idaho was absent. Mrs. Howard Roberts of this city, and who has been confined to her bed for some time, was unable to participate in the celebration. The sons and daughter, who were here to take part, were Mrs. George Mor-tensen Mor-tensen and Oliver and Benj. Larson of Emery; Edwin and Dan Larson of this city. In addition to these the wives and husbands, the grand children chil-dren and great-grandchildren were present to swell' the throngs. The festivities started last Thursday Thurs-day 'afternoon with an elaborate banquet, ban-quet, The Larson home had been beautifully decorated, gold and white being used in profusion. It required three sittings to care for all the guests at the banquet. The table was ladened with roast turkey, roast mutton, potatoes, com, and in fact everything that goes to make up a real banquet. In the center of the table was a huge cake, trimmed in gold and white, and on it were 50 imitation candles, representing the years the respected couple had been m a:vviorl . Following the banquet the spacious spa-cious lawn was the scene of much merriment. Games, songs, recitations recita-tions and dancing occupied the time until nearly midnight when ice cream and cake were served. Before the late refreshments were served the gifts were opened. Gold comprised the main gifts and $63.50 were presented pre-sented to the honor guests. The celebration was continued un-' un-' til Friday when the immediate mem bers of the family went to Palisade park Friday afternoon. Luncheon and an outing featured the event. Friday night the crowd motored to Red-Mont-0 where dancing was enjoyed en-joyed . Mr. and Mrs. Larson were mar- ned August 5, 1876, the ceremony taking place at Ephraim. Mrs. Larson, Lar-son, before her marriage, was Amelia Ame-lia Peterson. Following a resience at Ephraim Mr. and Mrs. Larson went to Castlegate, residing there for a few years. Some ten years ago they came to Gunnison and have since resided here. Mr. Larson is 73 years of age, while that of his ' wife is 67. Both are hale and hearty hear-ty and joined in the festivities given j for them last week. They werej showered with congratulations and best wishes by the throngs that had gathered to pay homage to them. Among those attending the golden wedding anniversary from out of town were Mr. and Mrs Fred Soren-son Soren-son of Spring City, Mr. and Mrs. v-' ' Oscar Brienholt of Ephraim and Mrs. Sophia Sorenson of Provo. |
