Show WHY DISCOURAGE INVESTOR OF SETTLER A state ownership scheme for power development, a home rule program for the telephone industry which would put it at the mercy of city councils instead of under state regulation, and agitation agita-tion for various forms of state insurance are being proposed in Washington. Wash-ington. Oregon has enacted a state income tax on top of all other taxation tax-ation measures. What the ultimate effect will be no one can tell, but the feeling already, after taxpayers have received their first blank to fill out, is one of irritation or discouragement that they must meet this new form of taxation. Why should the people handicap themselves with such measures if they wish to compete successfully with adjoining states?
