Show the world today. The peace of the world would never suffer if the peace of the world were left in the hands! of the United States. We not only have reduced our navy by agreement with other nations, "but we are refusing even to build the auxiliary ships needed by our navy, and which are being built in large numbers by both England and Japan, our navies in the 5-5-3 pact. There is no phase of our life which gives the pacifists any right to charge us with any faint trace of militarism yet constantly they repeat that charge. Which repetition is, we affirm the uttermost in absurdity. Fall River News. "WARLIKE AMERICA" It is almost laughable to see the pacifists in this country so wildly at work to get the United States to be "peaceful". Since when has this country been anything else? What time did anybody ever see Americans wildly rushing into war? Since when have we kept up a terrific armament race, or engaged in the wild construction construc-tion and training of armies? Yet ever and anon we see the pacifist ladies and gentlemen running run-ning to Congress, lobbying desperately, as though world peace were threatened by some pernicious activity of American militarists whoever they may be. Now we have the spectacle of Miss Jane Addams and a number of other pacifists interviewing President Cooliclge, and begging him to use his influence to get the world to disarm. Miss Addams is international president of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, and she believes that the United States should instruct its delegates to the preparatory armax lent limitations conference con-ference at Geneva to work for abolition of con scription and "ocm-plete "ocm-plete world disarmament" As the United Sta tes has no conscription, conscrip-tion, and the tiniest standing army in the work I today and as it is evidently the only major power which is takin g this Geneva disarmament dis-armament conference at all seriously, one worn ders just why Miss Addams and her associates do not concentrate th eir attentions upon some other country. It is entirely absurd for our pacifists to go ab. out preaching pacifism; pac-ifism; in a country which is already the most p cifistic country in |
