Show Big Things Doing : At Spanish Fork Delegates and visitors to the annual an-nual convention of the American Legion Le-gion and ite auxiliaries at Spanish Fork, August 7, 8 and 9 will be greeted greet-ed with flags flying and bands playing play-ing on their arrival at the convention conven-tion city, it is announced by John E. Booth, general convention committee chairman. Spanish Fork's uniform street decorating deco-rating system will be in full use and the business houses will have special window displays in honor of the former for-mer service men. All convention meeting places will be appropriately i decorated with the national colors. Each of the six convention bands will be stationed at various points where the visitors arrive the railroad depots de-pots and the city camping grounds. Coincident with the announcement of the attendance at the convention of F. Ryan Duffy, national vice-commander, Ezra Clemans, national chaplain and Governor James G. Scrugham of Nevada, interest in the big meet was increased both among legionnaires and the general public. More than one thousand visitors are expected to attend the mammoth celebration. cele-bration. Special rates of one fare and one-half one-half on steam railroads and one fare and one-third on electric lines have been granted by theeroa ds of the state and as these rates are open to the general public it is expected that thousands of citizens will attend the patriotic celebration. Mayor Nathaniel Ludlow of Spanish Fork has sent invitations to the mayors of all the towns in the state asking that they invite their various towns on behalf of the citizens citi-zens of Spanish Fork to come and participate in the big affair. |
