Show Expect Big Returns From Cauliflower Cauliflower growing, which was given a start last season when some thirteen carloads were shipped out, promises to develop into one of the great industries here, as indicated by the activities shown by the gardeners gar-deners of the Japanese colony a Westview. All indications now poini, that between 70,000 and 80,000 crates of cauliflower will be shipped from ! this point during the coming "fall, i Last season's prices averaged close I to 75 cents per case, and in the event I the prices hold up, and they are expected ex-pected to do so, the industry will re- j suit in bringing thousands of dollars to the valley. A representative of the News-visited the colony Sunday and in company com-pany with S. Kimura, visited many of the patches. There are 150 acres now planted to cauliflower in the ! crop have been provided for through the building of a large warehouse. The new building, located in the center cen-ter of the growing district, is 30x100 feet and will prove a valuable addition addi-tion to the industry. In this building build-ing the cauliflower will be neatly packed and stored and made ready j for shipment. Eleven carloads of j frames for the crates have been or-j or-j ciered to handle the crop. The crates ; will be nailed together here, J. S. i Peterson, the builder and contractor, ' having been awarded the contract. Last year some fifteen cars were j shipped from this point and from the fields at the Japanese colony. The major portion went to Chicago ami this year new territory has been opened op-ened up, thus broadening the sale Mr'. Kimura stated that 'Salt Lake would be supplied with about four tons each week, and it is expected that more than 150 carloads of the superior quality of cauliflower from this valley will find its way to the marts.
