Show Heber C Iverson Conference Speaker Bishop Heber C Iverson, for a number of years a bishop in Salt Lake City and who later served as president of the Northwest mission for the L. D. S. church, and representing repre-senting the 'general authorities lof the church at Salt Lake, was the principal speaser at the regular Gunnison Gun-nison "stake conference iwhich was held at the Gunnison Valley ;high school building last Saturday and Sunday. Bishop Iverson failed to arrive in time for the opening session ses-sion Saturday morning, but gave a splendid address at the afternoon session. He also addressed the general gen-eral meetings and was the principal at the special conference of the M. I. A. Sunday night and at the special priesthood meeting Saturday night. Bishop's Iverson's talks were principally prin-cipally along doctrinal subjects. He stressed several important subjects clean living, honesty and thrift. The visitor is highly educated and his discourses dis-courses (throughout -Hvjere ,interiselj;; interesting and he held his hearers in rapt attention. The high school auditorium, where the several meeting were held the two days, was comfortably filled at all the sessions and a larger attendance attend-ance was noted than at the previous conference. The Fayette and May-field May-field choirs furnished the special musical numbers, all of which were pleasing. Mrs. Emily Knighton, of this city, sang a solo at the Sunday morning services and she was given a warm ovation. Visitors were present pres-ent from all-the wards in the stake, and many came from Manti and Eph-riam Eph-riam to attend the conference. |
