Show Survey Starts On fishlake Cut-Off W. W. Blakslee, assistant district engineer working in the forest service, ser-vice, came in from Salt Lake Tuesday Tues-day of this week and immediately made preparations to start surveying on the Salina-Fishlake cut-off. Mr. I Blakslee will establish headquarters J at the Gooseberry Ranger station ana by the first of the coming week he expects to start running the lines and making the necessary surveys on the first lap of the highway, which will be some four miles or more. Active grading will start June 1, according to the announcement g'iven out by Carl Mattsson, supervisor of the Fishlake forest. By the first of July the surveys will be continued to Seven Sev-en Mile canyon, and it is now planned plan-ned to complete the road one-half the distance this year. Mr. Mattsson, supervisor, was in Salina Monday and was making preparations, pre-parations, securing supplies, the ne- cessary survey stakes, and other paraphernalia par-aphernalia necessary for the work and it w-as in' readiness upon the arrival ar-rival of Engineer Blakslee. Ten thousand dollars have been allotted for this year's work and if conditions continue favorable it is expected the road will be finished one-half the distance before fall. Next year another an-other $10,000 will be expended and during the early summer it is believed believ-ed the road will be practically finished. fin-ished. Due to the fact that the Salina Lions club played an important part in putting the' road over, the official name of the road will hereafter be known as the "Lions' Trail." Nothing j could be more appropriate and the , honor of the road so named is due and just to the members of the local club for the active part the members played. It was through the instrumentality instru-mentality of the Salina Lions that ; the movement for the building of the road was started and it was through the untiring efforts that the magnificent mag-nificent sum of $4,000 was assembled : to aid in building the highway.
