Show Dairy Business Being Boosted "The Centerfield farm bureau, be-leiving be-leiving that the dairy business in the Gunnison Valley is essential and that it can be made highly profitable, is planning on importing many high class dairy cows and to this end many orders have already been placed for cows," said Chris. A. Petersen, president presi-dent of the local. "Already we have sufficient orders for one carload of dairy cows and by the first of the coming week we expect to have another carload. But we will not stop at this as we propose to keep the work up until Gunnison Valley can boast of many high class dairy herds. We will profit by the example set by our friends in the northern part of the state where the dairy business busi-ness and beet growing are making the farmers wealthy." Mr. Petersen states that there is no particular section being included in purchase of dairy cattle. Any resident of the valley can join and he announced that the more that became members the better results would be obtained in the purchase of dairy cows. The movement should be backed by every live-wire throughout through-out the valley and when more dairy stock is brought here there will be a better chance for the establishment of a creamery and cheese factory. At present all the surplus milk and cream are being shipped to outside points. With the creamery and cheese factory going all the the money would be kept here and the result would be the establishment of industries that will afford employment to many. |
