Show School Sanitation Needs Correction Mrs. G. D. Peery, country health supervisor and who has just completed com-pleted a visit to many of the schools in her district, reports that conditions, condi-tions, in so far as disease and contagion con-tagion is concerned, the pupils are in mighty fine shape. "In the sur-l sur-l vey just completed," says Mrs. Peery, "I found nothing of a serious nature na-ture in the way of contagion. There is a criticism, however, to offer, and that is the comfort and sanitation on the school grounds. At Sterling there are no recreation opportunities opportuni-ties at the school grounds. There is no water available that is good, and the toilets are deplorable and should be given attention immediately. immediate-ly. Some of the bad conditions, too, are found at Axtell and Fayette. "Conditions in some respects at the high school are open for criticism. There is a lack of sanitation about the toilets and lavatories. The use of disinfectants are needed to make these places clean, healthly and wholesome. On one occasion, too, I found the temperature at the high school far below what it should be during the severe cold weather. These little matters can be adjusted cheaply and easily and if done, the health of the pupils will be better safeguarded." safeguard-ed." Mrs. Peery asks the cooperation of the teachers in bettering conditions by impressing cleanliness with the students. |
